Motion monitoring

The main purpose of a SiriMarine Motion Monitoring System on board is to provide a Decision Support System during the transport or the operation that gives the personnel on board real-time information on the actual motions (accelerations, angels and forces) of the vessel and generates warnings when the maximum allowable motions/forces on cargoes and structures are reached.

The secondary purpose is to store all motion data during a voyage for post-processing and analysis on completion of voyage.
This can include the preparation of Guidelines for future transport, documented as-build information, fatigue life calculations and documented proof on disputes between parties.

Technique

The Motion Monitoring Systems are normally equipped with hardwire communications. The sensor gives a RS485 output signal. A USB converter is placed between the sensor and the PC. Power requirement of the sensor is also provided via USB and the sensor does not require additional power supply. The data from the sensor can also be transmitted wirelessly via telemetry from the sensor position to the computer / display.

The Sensor

Siri Marine developed a motion sensor based on digital  technology, low power consumption and prepared for telemetric data transfer.
The DIMMAX 3 sensor measures 6 DOF's with high accuracy, using state of the art MEMS technology .
