Deflection of a container vessel
Watch deflection of a container vessel in rough seas. During heavy seas container vessels are under influence of huge forces. Together with high speed and heavy seas, these forces are causing damage to ship and containers. Siri Marine's decision support tool is helping the navigator taking the right action at the right time.
CSCL Hamburg grounded
Smit Salvage was awarded the contract for the salvage operations of the m/v CSCL Hamburg, which ran aground on Woodhouse Reef while navigating in the Enterprise passage near Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Siri Marine was contracted by Smit Salvage to provide Motion and Hull Integrity monitoring services on board the m/v CSCL Hamburg during the salvage operations. A Siri Marine Motion / Hull Integrity Monitoring System, including operator, was mobilized to the salvage site on 06/01/2010 and the system was installed on board at 08/01/2010. The system monitors and displays roll, pitch & heave information and hull deflection & torsion.
Heavy weather conditions
Siri Marine has developed a "Decision Support System" including approved procedures that will assist the Master to decide on an adequate lashing procedure for each voyage. Onshore the procedures will assist the Management of Terminals in the planning of personnel and a reduction in personnel cost. This results in a safe passage without the risk of damage to cargoes and a significant reduction in lashing costs. The system will satisfy the requirements of the authorities in the use of reduced lashings (Weather Dependent Lashing) during a voyage.
These two videos show the movements of cargo vessels under heavy weather conditions.
Rig movement
Real time information regarding angle, pitch and accelerations are of huge importance when towing a massive rig. Especially in night time when there are no visually references. This movie shows how much a rig already can move in good weather conditions. Imagine night time and bad weather! The SiriMarine Tow Monitoring Set leaves you no surprises in the morning.
MSC Nikita grounded
MSC Nikita was one of our best salvage jobs this year. We joined the salvage team within hours after the casualty. Our system supported the statement of the salvage master that the vessel was able to remain afloat and that it was of great importance that the vessel was entering the port of Rotterdam. There was no danger of breaking and over the days of motion measuring no big changes were found in the hull integrity.
Chinese vessel grounded
Siri Marine was contracted to provide motion monitoring services onboard a Chinese bulkcarrier. This vessel grounded on the famous Great Barrier Reef near Gladstone Harbour (Queensland/Australia ) The salvors succesfully refloated the vessel and started with the discharging procedures near Fraser Island. The second part of the salvage ( getting the vessel safe in a Chinese port ) Siri Marine was contracted to assist the tow from Fraser Island to China. By the end of July the vessel arrived in good condition in China.
HLV Thialf
Siri Marine was contracted by Heerema Marine Contractors Nederland BV (HMC) to provide on board the HLV Thialf a motion monitoring / data logging system. The system was used during the scheduled Ekofisk Cessation Project.
