Siri Marine jumped on a half sunken containervessel near Rotterdam!

One of the Dutch leading Salvage Companies was awarded the contract for the salvage operations of the m/v MSC Nikita, which collided with another vessel in the Southern North Sea in the early morning of 30/08/2009. The vessel sustained damage to the engine room and aft holds and is still afloat
Siri Marine has been contracted by the salvers to provide Motion and Hull Integrity monitoring services on board the m/v MSC Nikita during the salvage operations. For this purpose a SiriMarine Motion / Hull Integrity monitoring system, including operator, was mobilized to the salvage site on 30/08/2009 and the system was installed on board. The system monitors and displays roll / pitch / heave information and hull deflection and torsion.
The system configuration is shown on page 3 of this document. All motion data is stored (25 Hz logfiles + 30 minute statistics) and this data is used for reporting and post-processing purposes. A Siri Marine operator is on site during the installation and during critical phases of the salvage
operations and will assist the Salvage Master and Naval Architect on site with information and advice. Reporting was carried out to the Salvage Master.
